R-NanoLab welcomed students, academics, and industrial partners for the 3rd EuReComp Workshop on March 19th. The workshop addressed a range of topics related to EoL composite recycling, reuse, and repurposing, highlighting both the scientific advancements and developments within the EuReComp project and insights from other related EU-funded projects.
Attendees of the 3rd EuReComp Workshop, had the opportunity to gain insights into cutting-edge topics such as filament winding, plasma-enhanced solvolysis, sizing of recycled fibers, and various strategies for recycling, reuse, and repurposing of composites within the EU landscape.
Participants also visited the R-NanoLab facilities, where they were introduced to the lab’s equipment related to the project. The workshop provided an excellent opportunity for networking and learning about the latest trends and technologies in composite recycling.
The following day, on March 20th, the 2nd Review Meeting of the EuReComp project took place. Representatives from the 20 partner entities, along with the Project Monitor and Officer, attended the meeting and offered constructive feedback. Discussions centered on the current status of the project, milestones achieved, and the planning of next steps for the upcoming period.
Within the project, R-NanoLab, in addition to coordinating the overall effort, is responsible for handling recycled carbon fibers through electropolymerization and the application of sizing to their surface. Furthermore, solvolysis wastes are being utilized as precursors in a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) reactor for the production of nanomaterials, while filament extrusion using recycled fibers supports the manufacturing of the project’s demonstrator cases. Overall, the 3rd EuReComp Workshop and the subsequent 2nd Review Meeting were highly productive and informative, offering valuable insights into the field of composite recycling and highlighting the impactful progress achieved within the EuReComp project.
