Stylianos Makrogkikas has a MSc in Molecular Biology from the University of Crete and a Ph.D. in Genome Engineering from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine of the National University of Singapore. In his Ph.D. thesis, Stylianos used the CRISPR-Cas9 system to elucidate the role of the zebrafish pkhd1l1 genes. He was the sole founder of FALCONBIO PTE. LTD. from December 2019 until May 2022, where he designed “smart” bacteria to fight cancer.
