Maria Modestou holds a BSc in Applied Physics (NTUA) and a MSc in Applied Mechanics (NTUA). In her diploma dissertation she developed an adaptation on Matlab of the Burger Model on biodegradable composites, while in her master dissertation she focused on the production and the evaluation of composite materials with modified prepreg carbon fiber fabrics. Currently she is a PhD candidate in school of Chemical Engineering of NTUA.
Her research interests focuses on developing innovative and sustainable solutions, to recycle, recover and reuse CFRPs and GFRPs, providing environmentally friendly procedures and principles for managing composites waste, such as solvolysis. She also works on epoxy-based composites materials for the manufacturing, the mechanical properties and the characterization of these materials, as well as surface modifications of carbon fiber fabrics and fibers.
