Dr. Maria Myrto Dardavila is a Chemical Engineer (NTUA) with an MSc in Materials Science and Technology (NTUA) and a PhD on the topic of electrochemical deposition of nanocomposite MMCs coatings (Laboratory of General Chemistry, NTUA), with an expertise in pulsed electrodeposition. In the frame of her postdoctoral research activities (Laboratory of Thermodynamics and Transport Phenomena, NTUA), she has worked on the design and optimization of the harvesting process of microalgae using magnetic nanoparticles, as well as, on the design and optimization of extraction processes of bioactive compounds from micro and macro algae using novel green solvents.
She has been involved in European and national scientific projects as a researcher and a project management, both in academia and industry. She has been awarded several domestic scholarships, while she has been granted the 2021 Empirikos Foundation award for her scientific work. As a result of her long-time research activity she is well experienced in: optical microscopy and metallography, thermal analyses (DTA, DSC, TGA), high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), UV–VIS Spectroscopy, zeta potential and DLS particle size distribution, X–ray Diffraction (XRD), surface profilometry and roughness, microhardness, electrochemical techniques (potentiodynamic tests, polarization resistance, cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy), scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy dispersive spectroscopy (SEM–EDS).
